Key Members of the Cimetrics Management Team are Listed Below:
James Lee
Founder & CEO
Mr. Lee is the founder of Cimetrics and has acted as its CEO since its formation. Mr. Lee has been a leader in the embedded control networking and building automation community for over 20 years. As founder and former President of the BACnet Manufacturers Association, the leading open systems networking consortium in the building automation industry, and Mr. Lee’s aggressive promotion of the BACnet open protocol standard has helped make Cimetrics a high-profile player in the arena. Mr. Lee has a B.A. in Physics from Cornell University.
James Butler
CTO
Mr. Butler manages the technology development organization and the products business. He has been with the Company for more than 20 years. Mr. Butler has been an innovator in embedded networking technology for building automation. He has been a significant contributor to the design of the BACnet network protocol (ASHRAE Standard 135), the BACnet test standard (ASHRAE Standard 135.1), and the Facility Smart Grid Information Model (ASHRAE/NEMA Standard 201). In 2000, Mr. Butler established the BACnet Testing Laboratories for the BACnet Manufacturers Association (now BACnet International), and managed its product testing program for six years. Mr. Butler received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Charlie Peterson
Director of BACnet Security Products
Mr. Peterson leads the deployment of Secured by Cimetrics™ (SbC), a cybersecurity platform that enables integrators to securely deploy and scale BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC) systems across large, multi-vendor BAS environments. BACnet/SC introduces complex challenges—managing CSR, PEM, and PFX certificates across vendors, each with unique CA workflows. Transitioning CA roles to IT or resource-constrained BMS teams risks expired or mismanaged certificates, resulting in downtime and support gaps. Contact Mr. Peterson at the button link below for more information and to set up a potential meeting.
Bhaskar Koukuntla
Director - Products Group
Mr. Koukuntla is primarily responsible for the Sales, Support and Global Operations of the Cimetrics Products Division. Mr. Koukuntla has been with Cimetrics for over 15 years and has an exemplary track record for providing technical support and increasing sales revenue. Mr. Koukuntla has extensive experience in strategic partnerships, distribution agreements and sales contracts. Mr. Koukuntla holds a Master’s Degree in Information Technology and Management from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA.
